Rachel Morrison is the first woman ever nominated for the Best Cinematography Oscar in 90 years of Academy Awards history.
Rachel, who also shot Fruitville Station (2013), Dope (2015), and the upcoming Marvel banger Black Panther (2018), was nominated for the highly-acclaimed Netflix film Mudbound (2017) directed by Dee Rees. Mudbound received 3 more Oscar nominations:
- Best Supporting Actress – Mary J. Blige
- Best Adapted Screenplay – Virgil Williams & Dee Rees
